A Magical Encounter
Good Day Brewers - Pang here! ☕
I’ve been sharing a whole bunch of stories related to my recent encounters.
In today’s issue, I wanted to switch that up a little.
You’ll get a glimpse into my childhood.
And I hope I’ll be able to inspire you to craft a story about a magical encounter you had when you were a child.
There are plenty of happy and sad moments.
Could you recall them?

A Magical Encounter
When I was 5, the most magical thing happened in my life.
One bright morning, still feeling sleepy and groggy, I headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
As I brushed, I felt a peculiar sensation—a tiny object wedged between my gums and teeth.
Disgusted, I spat it out onto my palms, revealing a small, white, pointed oval shape—it was my first loose tooth.
And it fell off a little earlier than most kids would have because:
I ate more sweets than an average kid
I love chocolates, and my mum would always buy them for me
I’m also taller than the average kid in class, which meant I probably grew faster and my permanent teeth are pushing out and replacing my baby teeth
Despite not knowing much about losing baby teeth, I sensed it was a significant milestone.
Placing the tooth on my open palms, I proudly walked down the aisle towards the kitchen, ready to show my discovery to my mum.
“MUM! Look at this!” I shouted gleefully.
My mum was holding a slice of bread in the palms of her hand, slathering delicious peanut butter over it.
When she saw the tiny tooth in my hands, she smiled and immediately reached out into the drawers and pulled out a small plastic wrap, carefully encasing the tooth in it.
"Keep this safe, dear," she said, giving me a wink that felt like a secret between us.
I knew what I had to do that night.
I gently placed the tooth under my pillow and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, the sun broke through the curtains filling my room with light. I jolted awake!
Yes. I remembered where I had placed the tooth.
I gently flipped the pillow over, bit by bit, building up the suspense.
And there it was—A shiny two-dollar note that was glimmering in the light. My tooth was nowhere to be found.
"MUM! DAD!" I called out, eager to share the magical news.
My brother, father, and mother all woke up from their deepest slumbers.
“What’s going on?” My dad asked.
“The tooth fairy came!” I screamed gleefully.
“Yes darling,” my mum beamed at me.
But my dad just looked at me in disbelief. And then she looked at my mum.
At that moment, he knew he had to play along.
“Yes, my son. The tooth fairy came because he knows you’re a good boy.”
Those memories from my childhood remain some of the happiest moments I cherish.
As I grew older, I realized that fairy tales and legends might not be real, but they instilled in me a profound sense of wonder, creativity, and imagination that continues to shape who I am today.
Not all stories are true, but the lessons hidden within them remain relevant.
It helps us to embrace our inner child, a part of us that dared to dream and believe in the extraordinary. It keeps us curious, imaginative, and open-minded.
These memories of our innocent beliefs? They aren’t just mere fantasies of childhood.
They are the seeds of resilience, optimism, and ingenuity that will bloom throughout our lives.
Embrace the magic of possibility and never forget that within us all, there lies a place where dreams take flight and the extraordinary becomes possible.
Everyone has a childhood story…
This is one of those joyful moments I had as a child that tugs at my heartstring.
The innocence of every child is beautiful. The lens in which we view this world isn’t tainted by society's standards. We aren’t afraid of judgments.
Anything is possible.
Relatable Moments…
Can you spot them in this story?
The love for sweets and chocolates as a child
Losing your first baby tooth
Placing that tooth under your pillow, believing that the tooth fairy is real
Realizing the tooth fairy might actually be real
Sharing that happiness and innocence with your family
Did you notice something?
This story is missing a common element used in 9 out of 10 stories, but it still delivers impact and a powerful message.
Take a minute to read through that story again.
See if you can spot what’s missing.
I’ll reveal the answer at the end.
Story Arc for Childhood Story…
Think about a moment in time when you were a child.
Why were you able to recall this moment?
Why did this moment matter to you?
How did you feel?
#1 - Opening Hook
Start with a moment in time. This one-liner should drive curiosity.
How old were you then?
Can you give a glimpse of what exactly happened?
When I was 5, the most magical thing happened in my life.
#2 - Roll into Action
Kickstart your reader’s imagination with an ongoing scene.
What time of the day was it?
What were you going to do?
What happened next?
One bright morning, still feeling sleepy and groggy, I headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
As I brushed, I felt a peculiar sensation—a tiny object wedged between my gums and teeth.
Disgusted, I spat it out onto my palms, revealing a small, white, pointed oval shape—it was my first loose tooth.
#3 - Add a touch of Personality
To establish deeper connections with your audience, give a glimpse into your personality. Add a little bit of context to spice up the story.
How were you like then?
What did you indulge in?
Are you similar or different from kids your age?
And it fell off a little earlier than most kids would have because:
I ate more sweets than an average kid
I love chocolates, and my mum would always buy them for me
I’m also taller than the average kid in class, which meant I probably grew faster and my permanent teeth are pushing out and replacing my baby teeth
#4 - Suspense Building
Keep the suspense going by adding details that build upon the story. But do not reveal what’s about to come next.
What intrigue your curiosity?
Which characters do you want to introduce into your story?
What scene would you like your readers to imagine?
In this section, you’ll realize that I didn’t reveal what was going to happen next. But with a little foreshadowing, I gave you a glimpse into what could possibly happen.
Despite not knowing much about losing baby teeth, I sensed it was a significant milestone.
Placing the tooth on my open palms, I proudly walked down the aisle towards the kitchen, ready to show my discovery to my mum.

I knew what I had to do that night.
#5 - Climax
This is the most EXCITING part of your entire story.
What did you believe in?
What were you hoping for?
Did all of this come true?
Did you break this news to everyone?
How did you feel at the end of all this?
I gently placed the tooth under my pillow and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, the sun broke through the curtains filling my room with light. I jolted awake!
Yes. I remembered where I had placed the tooth.
I gently flipped the pillow over, bit by bit, building up the suspense.

The Missing Element: Conflict
There aren’t any conflicts in the story, but there’s no need for one.
This story taps into the emotional and nostalgic aspects of childhood experiences.
As long as the story connects with readers on an emotional level and leaves them with a meaningful takeaway, it can be just as impactful as stories with more pronounced conflicts.
Did I leave you with a magical moment?
I’d love to read your stories and send you some love!
